I recently had a consultation with Mr Turk and I found him to be a sympathetic doctor who listened to what I had to say and assessed the situation in a very thoughtful manner. He filled me with confidence that I am in good hands and feel that the best outcome for my condition will be achieved. As a condition of submitting my comments I have used the above star system reluctantly but I am not at ease with marking his performance, but, I gave him 4 stars only because I don't feel it is within my capacity to make a judgement on perfection.

He was very concerned and attentive and made me feel special and I was relaxed but obviously shocked with the diagnosis. He gave me all the information regarding a biosy but, as I was not in a good place after having various appointments and scans and was still coming to terms with my daughter's diagnosis of breast cancer, I postponed the biopsy until now, 5th February 2924, which I have had done at the Furness General Hospital and am now awaiting the results of said procedure. Many thanks to everyone concerned. Regards, David Wellock.

The appointment with Mr Turk was a very positive experience. My husband, who has dementia was put at his ease and felt part of the consultation even though I had to do much of the talking. Mr Turk explained everything in enough detail for us to understand without seeming to be in any way patronising. We came away from the hospital feeling reassured and very happy with the professional yet friendly consultation.

I found Mr Turk to be very approachable, attentive and kind. He reassured me straight away and checked that he had understood my problems. He then explained clearly how he felt we could proceed and gave me a ‘map’ of the near future and how I could trigger the next steps of treatment when I reached a certain point of difficulty with my self catheterisation. He was patient and allowed me time to absorb this. When I asked about the procedure he explained that technology had moved on since 2016 when I had the last procedure and that it should not be as complicated as I feared. He said I would no longer need annual cystoscopes which have caused me trauma in the past. I felt I had been treated with sensitivity and respect. I said to my partner, who was there also, that I felt a weight had been lifted from me just having that meeting and having a plan . She agreed with my other reflections here. I asked if I could have any support to check in with if minor difficulties arose and so he gave me contacts for the urology nurses. I felt he was thorough and conscientious and I feel very grateful for the opportunity to meet Mr Turk and have the consultation.

I had my first consultation with Mr Turk four days ago having moved to Cumbria from another part of the country. I have had two types of cancer, one of which (prostate) recurred in 2023. My opinion of Mr Turk is that he is a superb Consultant. He understood my situation quickly and set about arranging my future surveillance immediately. Indeed, I have already received by post a copy of his detailed notes of my consultation. His bearing and manner instilled confidence in me that I am going to be well looked after in the coming years. Altogether, a first-class experience. Mr Turk is a credit to the NHS and I feel that his patients are lucky to have him.
